C12. Studies, acquaintance and practice of monastic life;

D)    Residence Permit for exclusive reasons:
D1. Humanitarian;
D2. Public interest;
D3. Victims of trafficking
E)    Residence Permit for family reunification:
E1. Family members of third country national;
E2. Personal residence permit for family members of third country national;
E3. Family members of Greek or EU country citizen
F) Residence Permit of indefinite duration
G) Residence Permit of long duration


According to the Law, third country nationals which enter Greece legally have the right to receive Residence Permit subject to the following conditions:

a) He/She is holding a valid passport or another travel document recognized by virtue of international agreements.
b) His/Her entry shall not jeopardize public order and security.
c) His/Her entry shall not jeopardize public health.
d) He/She is holding the insurance policy for all the risks prescribed for Greek nationals.
e) He/she has the financial means that are necessary for his/her return to the country of origin.

A third country national who applies for a Greek Residence Permit shall after entering the country and before expiration date of his/her visa submit application for its issue. The Prefectural Service for Foreigners in the district of applicant’s residence or stay is the competent authority for consideration of application.
Applications for issue and renewal of Residence Permits are filed to the demos / municipality in the district of applicant’s residence or stay.
The applicant, along with his/her application for issue or renewal of Residence Permit, shall pay state duty and attach the file of documents required in each specific case.
The Prefecture after considering the matters which relate to public order and security may invite the third country national for interview.
Residence Permit is issued by decision of the General Secretary of Prefecture.
